Spedale della Provvidenza di San Giacomo e San Benedetto Labre offers an accommodation to pilgrims who are stopping in Rome during their pilgrimage "devotionis causa" on the Via Francigena or other pilgrimage ways, done walking or on a bike. It is located in Testaccio, in Roma's centre, half way between Basilica di San Pietro and Basilica di San Paolo. The Spedale accommodates pilgrims with a credential, who get to Rome trough a an authentic pilgrimage. This opportunity comes after long time when, after long and tough paths, incoming pilgrims were abandoned to their own, or turned into goods for the touristic business surrounding the holy places.

Valid pilgrim's credential (normally released by a religious organisation). For who's coming, demonstration of the last 100km walked, or latest 7 days riding a bike.

Accommodation in Radicofani: Spedale di San Pietro e Giacomo
It's called Spedale di San Pietro e Giacomo and has been accommodating pilgrims of the the Via Francigena since June 2007. It is located in the centre of Radicofani, ancient village in Tuscany, historical transit place for pilgrims of the Via Francigena. Radicofani is at times not mentioned in some Pilgrim's guides, perhaps due to the road going uphill to get there. Yet, Radicofani belongs to one of the most authentic and interesting parts of the Via Francigena. It is catching both from an historical standpoint, and for the lanscape and nature the whole area offers. Moreover, passing trough Radicofani allows reducing the distance thus avoiding a piece of motorway that is concerning for the safety of pilgrims. It is worth visiting the San Pietro Church in the main square of the village.
The opportunity of hosting Pilgrimis in Radicofani came out thanks to the cooperation between Confraternita di San Jacopodi Compostella and the local charity organization Misericordia.

In years, we combined faith, study and historical research on pilgrimage, reconstructing the authentic itineraries of the ancient pilgrimages that did build Europe and Christianity.
